CAD2VR® Troubleshooting

On this page, you will find solu­ti­ons to the most com­mon pro­blems encoun­te­red during the instal­la­tion and set-up of CAD2VR®.

We recom­mend that you carry out the sug­gested steps in the order given. If the pro­blem per­sists, please cont­act our sup­port team and pro­vide as much detail as pos­si­ble about your hard­ware, your VR head­set and the ver­sion of CAD2VR® you are using.

Installation and Set-up

Pos­si­ble cause Solu­tion
Incor­rect CAD2VR® ver­sion installed Make sure that the instal­led CAD2VR® ver­sion is com­pa­ti­ble with the VR head­set you are using.
OpenXR run­time not con­fi­gu­red correctly Check whe­ther the cor­rect OpenXR run­time is selected.
Exam­ple: For Meta devices, the Meta OpenXR Run­time must be set as the active run­time in the Meta Hori­zon Link app.
USB cable not compatible Use a USB 3.x cable and test a dif­fe­rent USB port.
USB power-saving opti­ons enabled If neces­sary, disable the power-saving opti­ons for USB devices in the Win­dows Device Manager.

Pro­blem: The ‘Set Meta Hori­zon Link to active’ but­ton does not respond or remains greyed out.
Button inaktiv

  • Launch the Meta Hori­zon Link app as an administrator.
  • Use a Win­dows user account with admi­nis­tra­tor rights.
  • Set the OpenXR run­time manu­ally via the Win­dows Registry. 
    • Open the Regis­try Edi­tor as an administrator.
    • Navi­gate to the fol­lo­wing key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenXR\1
    • Set the Acti­veRun­time value to the file: C:\Programme\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\oculus_openxr_64.json or C:\Programme\Meta Horizon\Support\oculus-runtime\oculus_openxr_64.json.

Note: Chan­ges to the Win­dows Regis­try should only be made by expe­ri­en­ced users.

  • Recon­nect the USB cable.
  • Use a dif­fe­rent USB 3.x port.
  • Avoid using USB hubs.
  • Make sure Air-Link is disabled.
  • Con­firm the Link con­nec­tion in the VR head­set again.

Start-up Problems

Pos­si­ble solution
Check sys­tem requirements Make sure that your com­pu­ter meets both the mini­mum requi­re­ments for CAD2VR® and the requi­re­ments of the link soft­ware you are using.
Run CAD2VR® as administrator Launch CAD2VR® using the »Run as admi­nis­tra­tor« option from the con­text menu.
Restart Meta services End the fol­lo­wing pro­ces­ses in the Win­dows Task Manager:
  • OVR Ser­vice Launcher
  • OVR Redir
  • OVRServer_x64.exe

Then restart the Meta Hori­zon app.

Update gra­phics card drivers Install the latest ver­sion of your NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel gra­phics driver.
Use DirectX 11 Open the file \CAD2VR\CAD2VR.bat.
Add the para­me­ter »-dx11« to the end of the launch command.
Enable high-per­for­mance gra­phics for OVRServer Win­dows 10:
  • Open Win­dows Set­tings -> Sys­tem -> Dis­play -> Gra­phics settings.
  • Under »Choose an app to set pre­fe­ren­ces«, sel­ect »Browse«.
  • Browse to C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\OVRServer_x64.exe (or, if appli­ca­ble, C:\Program Files\Meta Horizon\Support\oculus-runtime\OVRServer_x64.exe).
  • Sel­ect »Opti­ons« -> »High per­for­mance« (for the cor­rect GPU).

Win­dows 11:

  • Open Win­dows Set­tings -> Sys­tem -> Dis­play -> Graphics.
  • Click »Add desk­top app«.
  • Browse to C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\OVRServer_x64.exe (or, if appli­ca­ble, C:\Program Files\Meta Horizon\Support\oculus-runtime\OVRServer_x64.exe) and add the app.
  • Set the GPU pre­fe­rence for the app to »High per­for­mance« (for the cor­rect GPU).
Repair or reinstall the Meta Hori­zon Link app
  • First, per­form a repair installation.
  • If the issue per­sists, com­ple­tely reinstall the software.
Check your anti­vi­rus software
  • Your anti­vi­rus soft­ware may cause the appli­ca­tion to freeze (resul­ting in a black screen) when it prompts for micro­phone access permissions.
  • Check whe­ther such a prompt is wai­ting and allow CAD2VR® to access your microphone.
  • Restart your PC.
  • Check whe­ther your anti­vi­rus soft­ware is blo­cking any files.
  • Run CAD2VR® as an administrator.
  • Ensure that the latest Win­dows updates are installed.
  • Ensure that the latest ver­sion of Meta Hori­zon is installed.
  • Update your gra­phics card drivers.
  • Restart CAD2VR®.

Performance

  • Make sure your com­pu­ter meets the mini­mum sys­tem requi­re­ments for both CAD2VR® and the link soft­ware you are using.
  • Close any pro­gram­mes you do not need.
  • Update your gra­phics card driver.
  • Use the dedi­ca­ted gra­phics card.
  • Load the model into CAD2VR® using lower qua­lity settings.

Operation

  • Check whe­ther the con­trol­lers are pai­red with the VR headset.
  • Check the bat­tery level of the controllers.
  • Restart the VR headset.
  • Pair the con­trol­lers again.
